Hello everyone. I'm Pavel from Amsterdam πŸ‡³πŸ‡±

I live in Amsterdam for the last 3 years, and I code for more than 10 years. I like music, travel and of course code.
I use mostly React with TypeScript as main tools and Gatsby, NextJS, GraphQL, Node/Express and Cypress as superpowers.
I like Egghead very much.

Hi Paul, have you gotten much into NextJS 9 and all the hybrid static generation stuff?

Hi Peter,

not too deep, but I/we already started to use it in production for static pages.

I found very interesting features that I want to check too:

  1. Integrated Core Web Vitals – for performance testing
  2. Wider env variables support.
  3. Preview mode and
  4. Incremental builds.

Good article about some new features:

Now if you want to use NextJS like Gatsby for a blog, it’s much easier with
dynamic routes and getStaticProps

Page generation example for Cosmic-JS:

P.S. I’ve migrated my blog from NextJS to Gatsby to reduce the number of API calls and make it super fast, but now they are both good with SSG.

Also by using next/pages/api with Vercel (Now.sh) it is very easy to combine static page + dynamic pages + serverless API.
